Frozen Water Service Lines Advisory
Due to low snow cover and extremely cold temperatures, there is a risk of frozen water service lines. Residents are strongly encouraged to let their water run at a small, steady stream (about the size of a pencil lead) to help prevent freezing. This is the best protection available.
Signs of a potential freeze include very cold water (40°F or below) or a drop in water pressure. If you notice these conditions, allow your water to run continuously.
The risk of frozen service lines may continue for several weeks. Lack of water movement can cause issues for both your home and neighboring properties.
Please note: The Village of Biron does not assist with freezes or leaks past the water meter.
To reduce the risk of frozen pipes:
- Keep your furnace set at 55°F or higher
- Shut off and drain outdoor faucet lines
- Insulate exposed pipes
- Seal air leaks in basements, garages, and around the home
- If away, have someone check your home regularly
We will notify residents when it is safe to turn water off again.
For questions, call the Village office during business hours. If you are experiencing no water after hours, please call (715) 424-4962 to reach the on-call staff.

Water Service Inventory Submitted to DNR
The Village of Biron has submitted its water service inventory to the DNR in accordance with federal regulations to identify if any lead pipes exist in the Village’s water system. The Village employed numerous resources to find out what the material of those private pipes is.

When viewing the inventory, you can find the service line materials for your home by locating your home address under the locational identifier column.
The bottom tab labeled field descriptions describes the purpose of each column and what the abbreviations in each column stands for.
