Water Tower Offline

On April 17th the Village’s water tower will be taken offline for approximately 6-8 weeks to restore and repair the tower’s interior and exterior. We do not anticipate any interruption of services while the tower is being repaired.

Discontinuation of Fluoride

After the EPA ruling that was published on September 24th, 2024 (see attached link), discussion began on the discontinuation of fluoride to the Village’s drinking water. The water committee met on October 30th and again on November 6th to have further discussions. The water committee put in a lot of time into researching fluoride. Then two of the three water committee members toured the drinking water plant on November 11th. There they saw how corrosive fluoride is on the equipment.

At the November 11th board meeting, the board voted to discontinue the addition of fluoride to the Village's drinking water. The last day of fluoridation was December 31st, 2024. The fluoride will remain in the system for approximately 7 days after removal. That is how long it takes the water to cycle through the distribution system.

Water Service Inventory Submitted to DNR

The Village of Biron has submitted its water service inventory to the DNR in accordance with federal regulations to identify if any lead pipes exist in the Village’s water system. The Village employed numerous resources to find out what the material of those private pipes is.
