Project Overview
The CTH U Reconstruction Project will improve safety, mobility, and infrastructure within the Village of Biron. The project includes roadway reconstruction, stormwater system upgrades for improved drainage, utility improvements, and recreational trail extension.
Project Updates
Week of August 17th, 2026
Current Work
- Grading throughout portions of the project area in preparation for upcoming roadway construction activities.
- Watermain work is beginning on Badger Street.
- Watermain work is also beginning on North Biron Drive between Badger Street and Otter Street. Crews will be working to complete the hydrant installation near Otter Street so the new watermain can be pressure tested and safe water samples can be collected.
Traffic Impacts
- CTH U remains closed to through traffic between South Biron Drive and Badger Street.
- The posted detour route remains in effect.
- Pedestrians are encouraged to use the designated temporary walkway and follow all posted signage.
- Motorists are encouraged to follow all posted signage and traffic control devices.
- Temporary traffic control devices have been installed along North Biron Drive until roadside safety features are restored.
Construction Progress
- Grading activities are progressing in various areas of the project.
- Watermain construction is beginning on Badger Street and North Biron Drive between Badger Street and Otter Street.
- Crews continue to address field conditions and prepare for upcoming roadway construction activities.

The project is expected to be completed in Fall 2026. Construction schedules may change due to weather, site conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances. Please check back regularly for weekly project updates and the latest construction schedule information.
Yes. Temporary restrictions may occur during specific phases of construction, but advance notice will be provided whenever possible.
Mail delivery may be temporarily impacted during construction. A mailbox cluster will be provided on Huffman Road, where residents can pick up their mail during the project. Residents are encouraged to use the mailbox cluster location for mail access while construction activities are occurring. Updates will be provided if there are any changes to mail delivery arrangements.
Updates will be posted weekly, typically every Wednesday. The Village receives the latest construction information during weekly project meetings held each Tuesday at 2:00 PM with the contractor and project team. Following those meetings, project updates will be prepared and posted to this page to keep residents informed of construction progress, upcoming work activities, traffic impacts, and any schedule changes.

The WisDOT Project Manager oversees the project on behalf of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and serves as the primary project representative. The Contract Manager coordinates day-to-day construction activities and field operations. The Project Engineer is available to answer technical and design-related questions regarding the project. The Wood County Highway Commissioner provides oversight and coordination on behalf of Wood County Highway Department.
